Sorry, i seem to be neglecting my blog a little bit lately. It’s a combination of having fifty thousand things to do and none of them being particularly blog-worthy so i don’t bother coming in and reporting on them. Here is a quick run down of a few things that have been going on.
I re-arranged the boys bedroom (again) the other day to make room for a bigger tv for koby to play his play station on, i am really hoping that in the next few months Noah will be ready to move into a big bed so i can buy some bunks and ditch the cot. This will free up heaps more space for them, but in the mean time it all has to squish in. I had to move Kobys bed over and unfortunately it took Noah…oh… 30 seconds to realize he could now switch on the light..and off again..and on…and off…on…off..on off on of on of on off…you get the point. He is at such an adorable age though and still obsessed with cars. That’s all he ever plays with, cars and the broom. In other exciting news, he has finally managed to cut through his four eye teeth, so he now has a full mouth of toothy pegs. Hurrah! I finally got Charlee’s hair cut, she was beginning to resemble cousin it from The Adams Family. She didn’t loose a lot of length (im not quite ready to let go of her gorgeous blonde locks) but she can actually see now which is always a good thing.
The kids found a baby bird in our front yard a few days ago, i thought it was dead but when i picked it up to bury it it moved so instead we wrapped it up in some tissues to keep it warm and comfortable. I knew it wouldn’t make it through the night and i explained this to the kids, but at least bringing it in from the cold meant it wasn’t going to shiver to death outside…or be eaten by the cat. Yuck. Anyway, he had died by the morning so we tucked him up and buried him in the garden.
We also brought ourselves a bigger dining table. On Saturday and Sunday night there is nine of us here for dinner now (Trent + me + 7 children = lots of bodies) so my tiny little four person dining table just wasn’t going to cut it. I found this beauty on Ebay, it folds down to seat six or extends to seat 10 comfortably (12 if you squish everyone in). I was a little worried that it would take up way too much room in my little house and that we would have to keep opening it up and closing it down. But it actually fits quite well. I’m happy to just leave it extended permanently. It didn’t come with chairs though so we need to keep an eye out for a few extras over the next week or so.
Trent is quite an archery buff so last night he took us all down to his local club. Koby has been wanting to go for weeks so he was really excited. The kids both had a go and they loved it. They both did really well, better than i was expecting for a first go. Especially Koby, he seems to have a real knack for it, he even got several right in the middle of the target. He now wants his own bow and he wants to go back all the time. He wants to get good enough so he can go bow hunting with Trent…i’m not too impressed with that idea but anything that gets him off and away from the bloody computer games he is obsessed with can’t be a bad thing. Right?
I am starting to get into Christmas mode. I have put a few things on layby for the kids and i’m starting to think about decorations and logistics of how christmas will work this year. Divided families makes thing difficult. I am hosting christmas for my family at my house this year, which was going to happen on xmas eve but Luke is now having his family lunch on Christmas eve which means the kids have to go with him to Geelong, so now my family is being bumped to xmas day. Which i was hoping to avoid because at this stage we will have all 7 kids with us on xmas eve and also xmas day (um….yikes). See…lots of things to think about and plan.
I also want to make a whole heap of new felt xmas decorations. I purchased this book last year but i got it way too close to xmas to do much, this time i am going to be more prepared. Charlee has already made herself this cute little gingerbread man. I cut it out and she did all the stitching together (except the face and buttons). That’s the great thing about felt, kids can make things with it so easily because there is no hemming or fussing around with raw edges. You just cut and sew.
Well that’s about it for now. I am flying out to Sydney on Thursday to photograph a gorgeous friends wedding on the 11/11/11. I will pop back in when i get home to tell you all about it. Until then xo
