I purchased a bag of scrap fur pieces off Etsy the other day. It arrived on Friday and since then I’ve been stitching little furry creatures.
First I made this little monster for Noah. I just made up the pattern myself based on some inspiration found online.
And I just made this cute little hedgehog based on this pattern card by Ric-rac
I just substituted the fabric she suggested with some fluffy fur
What other fuzzy creatures should I make?
Been busy busy busy around here since I last posted. Firstly my graphic design course started last week and I have been spending a lot of time reading and completing assignments. I’m loving it. I’m only two weeks into my first seven week block and I’ve already completed 3.5 of the four main assignments lol.
I must admit that I’m finding it very easy so far but I knew I would to begin with because a lot of the basic design stuff I have done before.
Mother’s Day was two weekends ago and I was very spoilt with breaky in bed and prezzies from the kids.
Last weekend my lovely Friday morning craft group and I went up to Eildon for the night to have some dedicated crafty time without kids. It was lovely, the four of us sat there all weekend crafting away and reliving the first season of Angel. It was gloriously 90′s lol.
We headed out to tea and breakfast and I managed to knit a whole jumper for Noah. A personal record. Normally in between life stuff it would have taken me at least two weeks, this time with no distractions I managed to knock it off in two days lol.
I have started my second paper pieced quilt, this one will be for one of the twins. I’m loving the colours and the star pattern. I have until September to complete two of these so I’m taking my time. Just adding on a few stars each night. I still find the process quite therapeutic.
Noah loves babies. Loves them. Adores them. Every time he sees a baby he wants to cuddle and kiss it. He walks around with Charlees baby doll all the time and apparently his favorite things to play with at play group are the baby’s in the house corner.
So when I saw this pattern for a baby monkey on Etsy I knew I had to make him one. After all, a baby monkey isn’t quite as girly as a baby doll. Of course as soon as Charlee saw it she wanted one too so I made two of them yesterday.
They are fully jointed so their arms legs and head move. And they are weighted with toy beans to make them sit up on their own. They are very cute if I do say so myself.
I had to tweak the design a little bit because the eyes I got we’re too big, I also didn’t put the eyelids on and I made their belly bulge out a bit more because they looked a little too scrawny for my taste.
Regardless I think Noah is pretty darn happy…
If you want to make your own you can find the pattern on etsy here. I think I might make a few more as well and put them in the shop if anyone is interested.
Charlee’s girls, Jessie and Mia, needed some new clothes so I spent the morning at craft group hand stitching these dresses. I brought a digital pattern book on etsy the other day and printed two patterns out this morning.
I am really happy with how the blue one turned out. It has a little collar and everything which was very fiddley but worth it.
The red one is made from felt and came out a touch too big. I think I just added a little too much seam allowance so I’ll cut it back a bit next time.
I called into a local quilting shop this afternoon and picked up some cheap little scraps of pretty fabric to make more.
I know you’re probably thinking that I have enough fabric and why don’t I just use my own scraps but I find Blythe clothes tend to look better with small printed fabric and most of what is in my stash is large print. This little pile only cost $10 and I will get lots out outfits made out of it do it’s worth it.
I ordered a new girl for Charlees birthday yesterday. She has to come from Hong Kong so she will be here in a few weeks. Charlee chose her a few months back so it’s not much of a surprise but it doesn’t matter. This is what she looks like here
I’m going to try to keep the clothes I make a surprise for her birthday as well but I don’t like my chances.
Well another Friday is here which means the weekend is upon us again. I still have some spots left for the beginner photography workshop which is happening next weekend if you know anyone in Melbourne who would be interested.
I gave my machine a bit of a work out earlier this week and made some dresses for Trents girls, they wanted to put them on as soon as they arrived this afternoon so we headed outside for an impromptu photo shoot.
Here is ‘Lesi (aka Jaylese)
Three totally different dresses for three totally different girls. I’m pleased - and surprised - that they all fit perfectly. Now we just need to wait for some warmer weather so they can wear them out and about.
and just because he was feeling left out, i took a few quick snaps of Kyran who has the most to-die-for-stunning-oh-my-god-eyes ever bestowed on a little boy. I have done nothing to enhance them in these photos, no tricks, no special processing, no brightening or “eye sparkle actions” nothing…they are just brilliant on their own and will break many hearts in about ten years time.
oh and this is my best effort at a shot of all four together..i thought i might try and sneak in a group shot to print off for Trents relatives at christmas but i think maybe i will need to try again…. next time i might have to resort to bribery
…there is always one . . . .
