Well, we are in. Mostly.
There are still lots of boxes to unpack and collect from Trents sisters house, but it is starting to feel like home around here. After a week of isolation and several phone calls to the phone company, the Internet is finally up and running. I know it doesn’t seem like long but it felt like forever lol.
The move was completely exhausting. From the friday before we moved to the following Friday we did not stop. The two of us emptied the old house and then filled up the new one on our own with just two 6×4 trailers. You can’t fit much in one of those you know, it took about a doesn’t trips to get everything here.
We had to store it all between Trents brothers house and his sisters house to get it all out of the way ready for the new family to move in. They had three “final” inspections in the last three days and we ended up having to hire a carpet cleaner to do the carpet again the night before we moved out because they weren’t happy. Which was a pain in the ass but we did it anyway. They were there again the following morning while we were still moving stuff out to make sure it was all ok.
We didn’t get into the new house until about 1pm, so there wasn’t a lot we could do. We quickly brought up two trailer loads of essentials then did the rest on Wednesday and Thursday. Thankfully the weather was good so nothing got wet. We are both completely exhausted though. We just haven’t stopped. Trent went back to work on Monday and I’ve been taking it easy, just unpacking a few boxes here and there. We have hung up new curtains in almost all the rooms, just the study and master bedroom to go.
Trent has fixed up the tiles in the shower which needed to be re-siliconed, we have put together our bed as well as two sets of bunks and another single bed. We have set up our new couch and also our new dining table. It took Trent about three hours to screw and bolt together the ten chairs that go with it lol.
We will be painting this weekend once the kids are out of the way, that will be the last big task that needs to be done inside. A plumber is coming up tomorrow morning to install a second toilet and also have a look at the water pump which is having some issues.
If you thought I was in love with my last garden then you were mistaken. I am already ten times more in love with this one and the potential it holds. I have counted at least 8 hydrangeas, 6 camellia, what we think is a cherry tree, a beautiful magnolia, daisies and azalea bushes everywhere, native hibiscus, we planted two plumbs and an apple tree on Sunday as well as a wisteria. There is just stuff all over the place. We think we have worked out where we will set up the vege patch and the chickens will probably be purchased in the next week or so.
Anyway, that’s enough for now. I have no photos to share at the moment, I have been too busy to take any. But I will make an effort to take some in the next few days. I just wanted to pop in and let you all know we are still alive and settling in.
