Weekends are not good blogging times so I’m catching up now. Not that anything particularly exciting happened but I’m determined to get through this Blogtoberfest month with as many posts as possible.
Saturday was spent at home lazing about. Although its nice to get out and about, being a cancer homebody (who literally has to be dragged away from home sometimes) it is even nicer to be able to just potter around.
In school news koby took part in some state challenges this year in computer skills and maths. He came home on Friday with two certificates and score cards and did really well. He received a credit in maths, placing in the top 23% of grade 4s in Victoria. He also received a distinction in computer skills and reached the top 2% in Victoria. Smarty pants.
I had to prune back some of my daisy plants because they are a little over the top and also because a certain puppy keeps jumping on them from off the verandah (must be a softer landing) so they are squished in parts and need to be fluffed up. I managed to fill a vase with the cuttings which now look lovely on my dining table.
On Saturday afternoon before the bonus kids arrived I quickly made a start on a commissioned painting, I still need to tweak the composition a little and add more contrast but I’m happy with it so far. It is completely different to what I have been painting lately but I’m enjoying it. Sometimes it’s nice to remember and confirm to myself that I can actually “really” paint realistic things and not just do splodges and shapes lol.
On Sunday after my kids headed off with their dad for the day, as usual, Trent wanted to head down to the shops to get a few things and as per my ranting post last week I refused to accompany him. After a discussion on the matter we decided I would stay home with the twins. Ideally I think they should have all stayed home with me but Trent being a bit of a sucker took the younger two, and after many tears and tantrums from the twins (whom we decided were most in need of a good lesson) he set off to the shops with Jaylese and Kyran.
Despite a good half an hour of “I hate you Clair” and “you’re nasty” ( because naturally it was all my fault) they both calmed down and we spent some time painting together, tidying up and replanting a few flowers. They were so distracted they barely even mentioned the fact they couldn’t go. They were also very well behaved, which didn’t surprise me as they are often very well behaved when with me, the bad behavior only surfaces when daddy is around. I suspect it is very attention based, any attention is good attention and if we sook enough we will get what we want.
Anyway, dad eventually came home with treats for being well behaved and promises that if they continue the good behavior they can go back to the shops next week. I’m yet to decide if I will join them.
We then spent the rest of Sunday out and about, we took trigger to a park to chase a ball around like a nut case. He got covered in mud in the process (and so did the car) so we washed them both then headed home.
I pulled out the good camera yesterday evening once my kids came home and took some photos of them in the glorious evening light, but I will have to come back later to show them because it involves moving to the PC which is currently being used by the kids who have a day off school today.
