Meet Brutus

Yesterday afternoon I FINALLY got to pick up my new car. I was so excited and it was torture having to wait until 4:30 before I could pick him up.

I’m in love. He is the nicest and newest car I have ever owned. He is a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder TI (which is apparently the deluxe model, electric windows, sun roof and all the other fancy stuff). It was rather amusing however that after picking it up and driving five minuets down the road I realized I needed to put petrol in it. It is duel fuel, having never put gas into a car, I decided to just put in some petrol for now. So I pulled into the petrol staton and then sat there for ten minuets trying to find the button to pop the petrol cap.

Could. Not. Find. It. Anywhere.

So I called Trent and asked him, since he also has a nissan I figured it would be in a similar spot. Nope. So I just went home hoping I would have enough gas to get me there. The man got home from work shortly after and we both sat in the car for another 20 minuets, with a torch trying to find the damn button. Surely it had to be there SOMEWHERE.

We finally found it under the driver door armrest, THE most obscure place ever. So then Trent took me to the petrol station to show me how to fill it with gas. We then spent another 15 minuets trying to work out how to turn on the demister. for a while there we thought some twit had replaced the whole fan system for the fancy stereo but then discovered it was under all that and got it going.

I then trotted off to craft night at dannii’s. it was so stressful driving it at night and in the rain. Im not use to such a big car, so it’s going to take me a while to work out where I start and finish. Anyway after craft night I hop back in and I couldn’t get the car to start. I thought I had immobilized the engine somehow so I fiddled around with the keys and buttons to no avail. I eventually had to admit defeat and go ask dannii’s hubby Israel to come and help me. He informed me that in newer cars you need to have your foot on the break before the car will start. Der. So he hopped in and it started right away. Hurrah! So I was off again and got home safely with a massive headache from the stress of it all lol.

Damn new cars and their fancy electronics.

So my next issue is the stereo. It was obviously previously owned by a youngster because most of the boot is taken up by doof-doof speakers and a massive amp. The woofer thing is rediculiously loud. I can’t turn the stereo up at all because the noise is just embarrassing lol. The whole car vibrates with the base so in going to get the man to disconnect most of it.

I know I’m definitely getting old when I’m choosing boot space over a kick ass sound system.

But despite a few user error type hiccups I am SO happy and in love with my Brutus.
