I decided to make this dress yesterday on a whim. The machine was already out on the table and i’ve had this fabric in my stash for ages. I still have heaps of it left over too…no idea what i originally brought it for but i had almost 3 meters of it for some strange reason, so i should probably make a few more dresses out of it. It’s a lovely burgundy coloured jersey fabric. Lots of stretch which is good because stretch is my friend. I used a vintage 70′s pattern, it was really fast and easy to put together. I simplified it a bit by not doing proper facing, instead i just rolled the hem over and stitched it that way. I also ditched the pockets and decorated it a bit with some flowers i made from the same fabric. I wasn’t in love with them to begin with. I thought i’d made them a bit big, but once i tried it on i thought it wasn’t too bad.
It is a really comfy dress and is perfect for this time of year, especally days like this which start out super cold but end up fairly mild and sunny. I got Koby to snap a few photos of me in it this afternoon. Modeling is definitely not my forte and you’ll have to excuse the uncoordinated beanie. I had been wearing it all day and had major unwashed hat hair going on LOL.
I think the sewing bug has kicked in again, because i’m contemplating making another wintery style dress tonight if i can get the kids into bed at a reasonable hour. Oh and here is a quick shot of my lovely photographer, he did a pretty good job actually, the shots are all in focus and reasonably composed which is important hehe
