Well i had an eventful morning, got the kids to school..dealt with yet another tantrum from Charlee (yes she has regressed to crying every morning. I really thought we were past this stage but she has been back to her old ways for at least the last 2 weeks), walked back up to the car, clipped Noah in and went to start it…nothing. The lights were on but none was home. So i called the RACV..90 min to wait for a mechanic to come help! what! So after a quick mercy call to mum, who came and got Noah, i satin the car park and waited (thank god for Wordle and facebook). He finally turned up, sussed out the problem (broken ignition switch do-dad) popped the bonnet and flicked some magic switch that only mechanics seem to know about and got the car going but said i had to take it right to the mechanic or it will stop and you won’t be able to start it again. ok. great.
So i dropped the car off and was greeted by a less than enthusiastic receptionist (she was literally one step away from pulling gum out of her mouth and twisting it around her finger) who told me that they were super busy and that it probably won’t even get looked at today. Super great. So now i am home again (thanks mum) car-less for probably the whole weekend. Just as well i had no shoots planned. Mum is gonna pick up the kids from school tonight, and they will be very unimpressed because i promised them we would stop off at the video shop on the way home to pick out a dvd to watch.
But anyway, not much i can do really. So back to normal programing.
Because i am a sticky-beak, and i know I’m not a lone. I thought i’d start posting some random photos of my favourite little nooks and corners of my house. I’d love to have a look at your favourite places as well so if you decide to post something similar in your own blogs then send me a link so i can entertain my sticky-beak tenancies.
This little corner is in my bedroom. The dressing table was passed onto me from you-know-who’s parents (he who’s name shall not be spoken in this sacred place) who were going to throw it out. I repainted it navy blue -no idea why, it seemed a good idea at the time – and it has been used to hold my knickers and pj’s ever since. It also serves as a good place to hang my scarves, beanies and necklaces. The “Shhh” i put in place to remind my children that when mummy is sleeping mummy should be left sleeping, and even more importantly when Noah is sleeping with mummy, no voices shall be raised in the house or anywhere near my room. I have on occassion had to put the sign on the door of the room, so when they wake up early on weekends, if on the rare occasion i still happen to be sleeping (usually because Noah has woken up super early, had his bottle and fallen back asleep again next to me) they know that if they wake me up all hell will break loose.
They know the rules well by now;
…unless someone is bleeding or the house is on fire mummy doesn’t want to know about it.
The little frog candle holder was something Charlee picked out for me while Christmas shopping with You-know-who. We use to call her “the froggy” because when she was born her legs were all stuck up in a frog position for a few weeks because she was quite cramped. I doubt very much she picked it for that reason but i think it is cute anyway. And the photo was taken of Charlee a few years ago playing with her “lookers” which she insisted on looking through backwards. I’ll be back next week with another corner.
I started crocheting my own Summer Garden blanket a few weeks back. It is a very easy pattern to learn and once you have the main sequence worked out they are quite quick to punch out. However i am now contemplating adding a round of white to them all to space out the pattern a bit, so i’m going to sit down and do that before i do any new ones. No idea how big i plan on making this one, i guess we’ll see how big it gets before i get over it. I’m quite liking the fresh summer colours though.
Well that’s about it really, nothing too interesting going on around here. The back yard is a mess from all the sewerage work that’s been happening (the rain isn’t helping at all) and there has been an endless stream of work men in and out all week doing various things. The kids will be with You-knw0who on Saturday so i am planing on meeting up with some fellow crafty types (provided my car is fixed or i manage to bum a lift off someone) and then Sunday will be spent lazing around under blankets in front of the TV.
